It’s like riding a bike…

Except when you don’t know how to ride one. I’ve never learned because when younger we had no sidewalks and our driveway had cars in it, and the street, well that was a death trap of cars flying by at least 20 over the speed limit. By the time anyone tried to teach me I was so old I got made fun of while I tried to learn, it was harder to let go and not be ashamed and just learn, it all just sucked. I really did try though when people tried to teach me, I just never got the hang of it.

I was content to live my life with “Oh, I probably would like riding a bike, but I just can’t.” That is till I met my wonderful girlfriend.

She love love loves riding a bike! Very passionately, it made me want to ride with her. Especially since we both love nature. Well yesterday, while we had a good chunk of time to kill, we went to one of the barns at her house(since it was dark out, I wasn’t feeling good earlier when the sun was out.) and she tried teaching me. I didn’t get it right away, in fact before even moving one pedal much I would almost fall over and have to catch myself. I tried and tried and she was very patient the whole time. Even when I first got on and just sat there a bit trying to overcome anxiety, instead of getting frustrated or pushing me, she explained some things about her bike.

Eventually I was able to get both feet on the pedals and move a very small distance. I still can’t ride a bike just yet, but she helped boost my confidence and helped me off to a great start!
